Refinishing Your Wood
Patio Furniture
It may be a
time consuming to restore your outdoor
furniture, but not as expensive and time
consuming as shopping for new furniture.
Do you love your old wood patio furniture,
but wish it were more attractive? Some people
like the gray look, but you may not be one of
them. If you prefer rich wood tones and failed
to notice the weathering early on, what can you
do about it now? You could purchase new outdoor
furniture. But if you’re willing to do a little
work, you can restore your aged furniture to its
original beauty.
You’ll need a paint brush, some cleaner and
brightener, and a pair of gloves. You should be
able to find the items you need at any home
improvement store. You can use a variety of
products, including those meant for teak wood.
Apply the cleaner first according to the
instructions and then follow it with a coat of
the brightener. Use teak oil to keep the wood
from weathering again. Treating your furniture
with teak oil will help to maintain its color
and ensure that you don’t have to go through the
entire process again. One day you may purchase
new outdoor furniture, but it will be because
you want a new style, and not because your
furniture has turned gray.
It may be a time consuming to restore your
outdoor furniture, but not as expensive and time
consuming as shopping for new furniture. When
you do buy new furniture, be sure to treat it
before it has had time to weather. You can
preserve its luster and beauty with a little
effort at the beginning. If you have wood decks,
you can treat them, too.
